The Women´s
Bussiness and Professional Association of São
Paulo – BPW-SP is the eldest in
Brazil (1974). Linked hierachically to the Federation
of Women and Professionals Association of Brazil
BPW-Brasil and abroad to the International Federation
of Business and Professional Women – BPW-
Internacional.
BPW-SP has as priority
actions capable of promoting qualifications,
development and opportunity for women enabling
them to become entrepeneurs thereby generating
jobs and business , with personal and social positive
reflections. Seeking to amplify their priorities,
BPW-SP established a partnership with the Association
of Support to Infancy and Adolescesce –
OUR PEOPLE
The Association of
Support to Infancy and Adolescence –
OUR PEOPLE, was founded on March 31,s1998 at the
General Center of Depots (Warehouses?) of the
State of São Paulo – CEAGESP, with
the specific objective of suppressing begging
and infant labor that was surrounding São
Paulo´s Depot.OUR PEOPLE work was developed
with the finality of getting children off the
streets offering them educational leisure englobing
notions of hygiene, heath, citizenship besides
helping them with their school activities, attending
at the moment 690 children and adolescents.
In February 2003
we started the Pilot Project “Community
with Quality” with the objective of capacitating
the mothers enrolled in OUR PEOPLE, as well as
women and youngsters in a situation of personal
and social risk from a government residential
group called Cingapura” and slums surrounding
CEAGESP.
During 2003
voluntary work was realized. The associates of
BPW-SP developed workshops and lectures on health
(eating habits, hygine, sexually transmissible
illnesses and family planning) – environment
(garbage, water, recycling) – work initiation
–( utilization of leftovers). 72 women were
enrolled. Besides these iniciatives a partnership
with the Biossintesis Institute of Sao Paulo.
Biossintesis involves corporal psycoteraphy with
an aim to the integration of life using as a base
the existence of three fundamental energetic corrents
in the the human organism the vital fluxions –
the muscular, the perception and the emotional.
The psychologists of this Institute worked with
two groups of women every fifteen days for one
hour during this year.
During the years
2004 and 2005 besides lectures and workshops
weekly sewing lessons were developed doing Patchwork.
In 2006
besides lectures, workshops and Patchwork corporal
expression and dancing was started in order to
develop self-esteem.
At the end of 2006
and beggining of 2007 BPW-SP with na
aim in seeking more efficiency and force in their
actions elaborated THE PROJECT OF SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY
OF BPW-SP COMMUNITY WITH QUALITY with a finality
of professionalizing the women of these communities,
find qualified professionals in the área
and find resources to make the project feasible.
The Project Of Social Responsibility of BPW-SP
COMMUNITY WITH QUALITY is therefore a structured
and organized investment for women in unfavorable
social conditions, seeking their personal growth
and capacitation for work, propitiating work and
revenue for themselves and for the group to which
they belong, with the following workshops:

Experimental
Cooking Workshop -Capacitate
the womans group to elaborate in a practical
and hyginic way food products that they my
sell and in the future organize themselves
in partnerships in order to commercialize
the production in a larger scale.
Recycled Paper Craftmanship Workshop Capacitate
the group of women to recognize the various
types of paper found daily in their region
and to use the proper technical recycling
technique aiming for creative personal products
that may be commercialized and used by the

Craftership
and Trinkets Workshop using Recycled Materials
-Capacitate the women as profissional
crafters, enabling them to enroll in SUTACO-SUPERINDENTECY
OF CRAFTERMANSHIP WORK IN COMMUNITIES, which
is an agency of the Secretary of Work Relations
in São Paulo so that they may participate
in craftermanship fairs promoted by the government
of the State of São Paulo commercializing
their products in order to generate work and

Capacitate
the participants in creating craftermanship
pieces in their various techniques
for commercial use, enabling them to participate
in crafthermanship fairs and bazars inserting
them in the work market with consequent increase
in self-esteem and quality of life. |

and Entrepising Workshop -Develop
the capacity of organizing themselves through
the constitution of work cooperatives in order
to develop the productive potential and revenue,
contributing thereby to their self-esteem,
to citicenship and social insertion. |

Corporal Expression
Workshop– Dancing– Self-esteem-Develop
motricity coodernation, spacial perception
and the participants capacity for expression
contributing in an signifying way to the quality
of their social and professional relationships
and in productivity. Through dancing the objective
is to develop physical capacity and consenquently
prevent illnesses besides helping in dishinbiting
and regaining their self-esteem. |

Patchwork
Craftmanship Workshop -Enable the
participants to become craftmanship semstress
specialy using patchwork in order that they
may develop products that may be sold thereby
generating revenue to their families. Products
such as bags, pan handles, pillows, t-shirts,
table cloths, napkins,etc. |
Once habilitated the participants
of the project will be incentivated and supported
to form and organize themselves into cooperatives
or other associative forms with the objective
of producing and commercializing craftermanship
and foods establishing thereby complementary revenue
Awaited Results and Aims
Amongst direct beneficiaries we expect to attend
a total of 470 capacitations between the women
living in Cingapura and the slums around CEAGESP.
At the end of the project
the following results are expected: Enrollment
in SUTACO as professional artisans, of at least
90% of the participants of the Craftermanship
and Trinkets Workshop using Recicled Materials,
Craftermanship Recycled Paper and Craftermanship
Boxes.

The constitution of at least one cooperative for
the production and commercialization of crafermanship
products and one cooperative for the produiction
and commercialization of food.
