Development
Career mentoring
is focussed to provide the job/ career
related training workshop for the protégés
who want to get more preparation, advice
and support for their career. This is
particularly useful for younger BPW members
who might range from being 20 somethings,
30 somethings or 40 somethings. Each of
these age groups need different things
in the respective times during their career.
Support is given
to personal and professional development
e.g. first job entry, progress in a professional
career, handling job interviews, improving
communicational skills, negotiating salary
increases, etc.
For example, in the United States, BPWs
have the Individual Development Program
and the Young Careerist Program. These
programs are designed to help women of
the younger generation to develop their
leadership skills further.
Personal Development
Personal development
is about helping BPW members to grow and
reach their potentials. For example, topics
like “Happiness and Success through
Balancing Work/Life”, “How
to Take Control of Your Money” or
“Strategies for Working Smarter
and Creating A Positive Outcome,”
etc.
Business or
Entrepreneurial Mentoring
Business or entrepreneurial
mentoring is to provide a platform for
business owners to network and to form
mentor and mentee/protégé
relationships among members. The mentors
come from diverse professions and background
and can share their personal life, work
and business experiences with the mentees/protégés.
Skills Training and Community Mentoring
Programs
Some BPWs have organised
community mentoring programs or skills
training programs and their members help
other women – members and non-members
to learn new skills for their businesses
or in preparation to re-enter the workforce
or society.
Some of the BPWs
target their mentoring towards girls in
high school or University level.
