Message from President FIDAPA Foundation FIDAPA Foundation obtained the Status of ONLUS on 28 January 1998 and the status of Partner of BPW Intenational in September 2003. The aim of the Foundation – which is a no-profit organization – is to follow the constitution’s objectives as reported in the constitution of BPW International. Report on the activities and projects of FIDAPA Foundation in the last three years ((2004 – 2007) - “Education to Equal Opportunities”: the project was presented in 10 schools in Palermo, 8 in Catania, 2 in Siracusa , 1 in Enna and 1 in Ferrara. It was financed with public funds under the law N° 125 /1991.
Duration of the course: 2 years. - “Venere”: in Civitavecchia, province of Rome, targeting 40 young girls. The project was financed with public funds (Law 125/91), and the economic support of the Foundation. 35 participants were hired by public and private companies of the territory.
- “Women for women: weavers in the Community”, financed with public funds under the law N° 125 /1991, carried out in partnership with public institutions INAIL, IACP, ACI, INPDAP, aimed at “breaking the glass ceiling” and taking more women to top positions.
Duration of the course: 2 years. - “Imprese in itinere” (Companies in development): financed with public funds (Law 125/91) in partnership with Med Europe Export of Confindustria Sicilia (Sicilian Entrepreneurs Organization). It was attended by 15 Sicilian women entrepreneurs , who at the end of the course went for a 10 day-stage to Tunisia, with the support of local companies and institutions.
- In the last triennium FIDAPA Foundation has organized several courses to promote women’s participation in the political and administrative life of the territories.
International activities - Since September 2003 FIDAPA Foundation has intensified links with BPW International and BPWI affiliated, promoting cooperation and commercial exchanges between Sicilian and Romanian entrepreneurs: several Romanian delegations participated in seminars of FIDAPA Foundation’s project like Women for women: weavers in the Community and Imprese in itinere. The delegations were hosted by Sicilian entrepreneurs.
- In 2006 a delegation of entrepreneurs and managers of German companies participated in the project Women for women: weavers in the Community in order to establish commercial links and cooperation in the EU.
- A delegation of FIDAPA Foundation went to Egypt to set up cooperation links with BPW Egypt and with Women’s Associations of Lawyers in the frame of the project Women of the Mediterranean Area.
- In July 2007 a delegation of FIDAPA Foundation visited Galway ( Ireland); the delegation met the Mayor of the city and other Authorities of the city. By the end of the year a visit of the Irish delegation is expected in Sicily.
As recognition of the activities of FIDAPA Foundation, the President Eugenia Bono was honoured with the Badge of Honour by BPW International and Professor Giuseppina Seidita (member of the Board of FIDAPA Foundation) was appointed as person responsible for European Projects. Solidarity - To enhance the value of solidarity, the Foundation FIDAPA – as a partner of BPW International, developed a project to provide two areas of Morocco and Tunisia with drinking water, in cooperation with the Sicilian district of FIDAPA, FAO, CRPM, and Regione Siciliana.
- FIDAPA Foundation supported the Project of Caritas International “Master in Global Development and Social Justice” with a remarkable financial contribution for a scholarship to a student in Industrial Engineering; the aim of the master is to form Peace Builders and political and administrative leaders for the development of their Countries of origin.
- Funds have been raised for the building of a school in a zone of Thailand destroyed by the tsunami.
- FIDAPA Foundation continues to support the Project “FIVE-O”.
- At the moment, FIDAPA Foundation is helping a young Albanian girl in her studies to become a medical doctor at the University of Tirana.
