| I
already share my thought about leadership
on my first day here. Here is my additional
view on leadership. Recognize leadership
quality is a person is important. But it’s
also important to distinguish a leader from
a person who holds an executive post. An
executive post does give a person more opportunities
to show off her leadership ability, but
is it necessary and sufficient for someone
to be regards as a leader just because she
is an executive? A leader should deliver
result, not excuses. Would you regard an
executive who deliver excuse a leader?
To
be a leader, one should look beyond striving
to gain an executive post or hang on to
such post. Some of a great leader does not
hold any post, yet he/she can motivate millions
of people to work toward a common cause.
A leader can be a person who takes charge
to help resolve problems when many others
simply look another ways. A leader can be
a person who leads people out of crisis
despite the risks. A leader can be a person
who dares to make a tough decision, rather
than a popular decision, if it would prevent
future problem or bring prosperity in the
long run.
To
me, BPW members should strive to be leaders
who accomplish things that worth remembering
for. I would like to congratulate the winners
of leadership award again. I wish you all
the best and for the future success. May
you be leaders who will leave legacy of
achievements for your country, for BPW and
to the world.
