On
March 8th 2007, in the City of La
Paz, B.C.S. celebrated the XV Anniversary
of the foundation of the Nursing School
“Ma. Silvia Salazar Salazar",
the Project was initiated in 1985
by BPW International as part of a
5-O Project.
The
celebration was organized by the authorities
of *CONALEP and attending as BPW guests
of honor were the Dr. Chonchanok Viravan
International President, Mrs. Liz
Benham Second Vice President, Susan
Jones Chair of Projects Committee,
Professor Ma. Silvia Salazar Salazar
International Coordinator of the Nursing
School, Dr. Yasmín Darwich
Chair of BPWI Public Relations Committee,
Mrs. Ryna Leonor Geraldo Fiol President
of the BPW La Paz Club with Club members
and Mrs. Rafaela Vizcaíno of
the Cd. Constitution B.C.S. Club.
Also
attending the event were the State
Director of the CONALEP, Lic. Lino
Renan Villavicencio Garayzar, Lic.
Teresa Camacho Barajas Director of
the School, Lic. Ricardo Pérez
Rasura President of the H. Board of
Directors, representatives of State
and Municipal Governments, the Directors
of the Health Institutions in the
State of B.C.S., and all the students
and teachers.
During
the ceremony, Dr. Viravan gave a touching
speech and acknowledged the State
Director of the CONALEP by awarding
an "Honorary Membership"
of BPW International, in recognition
for the great support that he has
given the school from the beginning
of the Project. She also gave special
recognition to Professor Consuelo
Amador de Rivera for composing the
Anthem of BPW International and donating
the copyright to BPW in 1993 during
the International Congress in Japan,
and also to Professor Ma. Silvia Salazar
for her extraordinary work since 1985.
The
presence of BPW International Executive
authorities encouraged the State and
Municipal Governments to continue
granting their support to finish the
construction of the Auditorium "Dr.
Yvette Swan " which will be of
great benefit for both students and
the community of La Paz.
CONALEP
recognized those who have worked for
the School since its inception, Dr.
Viravan received the accolade on behalf
of BPW International. Prof. Ma. Silvia
Salazar Salazar, Dr. Yasmín
Darwich and BPW La Paz Club members
were also recognized. After the Ceremony
CONALEP offered a traditional Mexican
dinner.
The
students joyfully received the scholarships
contributed by BPW Australia Joondulup
Club, Liz Benham and the Darwich family.
The BPW Club Central Coast, Australia
sent a donation towards the construction
of the Auditorium.
During
this visit to the City of La Paz,
Prof. Consuelo Amador de Rivera invited
the International representatives
to a breakfast in her home where she
demonstrated the Anthem on her piano
and gave the anthem musical score
to the International President followed
by members of the BPW La Paz Club
singing the anthem for her. The local
press was present during the breakfast,
and afterwards published a complete
page of the School Anniversary and
covering the distinguished visitors.
One day later, Prof. Salazar, Susan
Jones and Yasmin Darwich visited the
School again to talk with and interview
the students who received scholarships,
to take photographs and a video of
them, the School, and the Auditorium
which will be in placed our web page.
Later they were invited to the Tourism
office of La Paz where the Director
Ms. Rosa Romero Vélez offered
her support to BPW International to
welcome BPW members who wish to visit
the School and also enjoy the beautiful
surrounds of the City of La Paz.
It
was a very productive visit, giving
great satisfaction and new expectations
of the continuing work on one of the
most important projects of BPW International.
An invitation is extended to all members
to participate by donating contributions
to finish the construction of the
Auditorium and increase the scholarships
for the students, remembering that
"At the end of the road your
hands will be full only with that
which you have given”.
