A Forum Promoting Financial Education in
Asia Pacific, held Tuesday, November 2,
Intercontinental Hotel in Hong Kong. If
you educate a man, you educate a person,
but if you educate a woman you educate a
family. Over 250 women attended this conference
from around the region which had the following
topics: The Importance of Financial Literacy
Among Women Building Life Skills - Preparing
Your Women for the Future Building and Managing
Wealth "Lifting the Poor", etc.
This was the first regional conference organised
on the subject of financial literacy and
education by Citigroup and INSEAD. The Hong
Kong Association of Business and Professional
Women was a supporting organisation and
Financial Times was the organiser for the
event. Judith Van Unen past president of
BPW Australia, was the BPW speaker for the
event. BPW members and the public were impressed

results
This event held in 2004 inspired the new
Executive Committee to make financial education
and literacy the theme for HKABPW in 2005.
This was a high profile event for HKBPW
- thus making heads of NGOs, financial institutitons,
government agencies, and business executives
more aware of BPW and its involvement with
Citigroup, INSEAD and Financial Times. HKABPW
was selected as the supporting organisation
due to our aims and goals as a woman's organisation.
