Description:

Since 1994 this project has been launched jointly by BPW Nepal and Nepal Association of University women with the financial support of Project Five-0.

The main objective of the project is to support grass root, disadvantaged and uneducated women through literacy program and skilled training.

Skilled trainings have been also conducted for urban unemployed women.
During the period Jan 2002 to March 2004. Six months literacy class, 3 months sewing and cutting training, one week pickle making training, one week organic compost making training and one week mushroom cultivation training conducted several times.

In May,2004 new one year project was approved for one year - Empowerment of Women through education and vocational training.

Results:

- Approximately 100 women became literate in rural and urban area.
- One hundred women acquired Basic skill in sewing and cutting.
- Approximately 30 women acquired training in pickle making.
- Forty women gained skill in organic compost making.
- Forty women gained skill in mushroom cultivation.
- Forty women acquired skill in food processing and preservation.
