Description:

Driver Training Course: The driver training covers both theory and practice. The training course follows the standard set by Division of transportation safety in Department of Land Transportation. Once the student finishes the course and passes the examination, the Department of Land Transportation would issue a certificate for her. With this certificate, the student can acquire a driver license at their own province without subject to further testing.

Objective:

The objective is to raise scholarship funding to help women earn the skill and the permit to work as drivers. Driving is a career with reasonable good income for women.

Approaches:

Activities:

Duration: 19 hours
Theory: cover traffic regulation and related laws and regulation
Practice: use the driving practice facility owned by Department of Land Transportation


Monday – Friday after 4:00 pm.
Saturday – Sunday after 9:00 am.

BPWT-Bangkok’s Scholarships: The total of 10 scholarships value 2,070 baht each were offered. The total is 20,700 baht. Women eligible for the scholarship from BPWT-Bangkok must age at least 18 years old and is not a physical disable person (in way which make them unable to drive).

The committee: BPWT-Bangkok forms a committee responsible for judging who should receive the scholarships. The committee consists of:

The project completion: On 30 November 1998, Mrs. Nattika Wattanvekin Angubolkool, President of BPWT-Bangkok joins a graduation ceremony of the 10 women who complete the drivers’ training courses hosted by Department of Land Transportation.

Results:

As there were more than 100 women who applied for the scholarship, the committee decides to offer 10 more scholarships.
