Description:
To
prevent young Thai women, especially teenagers,
in upcountry of Thailand who do not have
skills to earn a living to resort to undesirable
and shameful careers like prostitution,
BPW Bangkok feels that it is important to
equip these women with skills that would
enable them to earn a living. BPW Bangkok,
in collaboration with AIM Beauty and Spa
Group (This company is owned by former President
of BPW Thailand and member of BPW Bangkok,
Mrs. Wannaporn Suklanetr) and Ministry of
Labour and Social Welfare, formulated a
Professional Spa Theraphy training program.
This is a FREE training conducted by AIM
International School of Aesthetics and Spa
Therapy which is a member of AIM Beauty
and Spa Group.

The
training course lasts for 6 months. The
first month, the training is held at Women
Training Center in Chiang-Rai province.
The next five months, the training is held
at AIM International School of Aesthetics
and Spa Therapy in Bangkok.
Free
rooms and board are provided for students
during these six months. In the first month,
Ministry of Labour was the provider. In
the next 5 months, the provider is AIM Beauty
and Spa group. The expense in products used
during the training, the instructor’s
cost as well as giving the students per
dium to buy food during the day are also
covered.
The
training initially was for women from Northern
region in Thailand in 1998, but it was extend
to cover provinces in the Central region
in Thailand in 2003 (in collaboration with
Women Training Center for Central Region
at Parkret).

Results:
(i) Number of Women
receiving help directly = 87 women.
(ii) Impact over
time:
The
students who graduated from this program
have gain professional experience. Many
went on to take the exam that show that
their capabilities are equivalent to those
who graduate from CIBTAC program in United
Kingdom. Every student get employed in several
Spa through out Thailand and have regular
income. Several students advanced into the
positions of Instructors in Spa school or
become Spa managers.
