The
BPWI Environment Committee launched the
project nationally together with the Federal
Republican Presidency. The participation
of the Brazilian Executive Vice President
José Alencar in the ceremony increased
the BPW visibility in Brasil. Tree is Life
focuses that Brazilian people have to plant
trees to fight against Climate Change.
On
the 6th of September, the Chairperson of
the Environment Committee, Yara Blochtein
and the BPW Brasil President Beatriz Fett,
in a public ceremony, launched the project
"Tree is Life". The participation
of the Past International President, Antoinette
Ruegg, from Switzerland, the Vice International
President Liz Benham, from the USA and Maria
Inez Bunning, Latin America BPW Coordinator,
from Brazil were absolutely important to
the great success and repercussion of the
project.
In
this way, we intend to stimulate the posture
change process to fight against the challenges
created by the Climate Change on the 21st
century and to warn Brazilians that planting
trees means to plant lives and take care
of our planet.
"The
project main goal is to motivate each Brazilian
to plant a tree" says Yara that since
1992 works with environmental projects in
BPW.
The
project has the support of the President
of the Republic, Governmental authorities
as well as NGOs.
Tree
is life has been first launched in Cuiabá
by Sueli Batista and Eliana Motta during
CONFAM and in Rio Grande do Sul, Porto Alegre,
the project was introduced by Ligia Barata
Brasil with the participation of the Governor
Yeda Crusius.
We
have to transform this action in a seed
to grow searching the harmony between human
and nature.
