Description:

1. Career Guidance Seminar for young women
Guide the young women after high school graduation to guide them to correct career path. The seminar consists of lectures on (a) How to succeed in a career, (b) new, emerging professional occupations to look for, and (c)Prospect of Network Business in 21st Century.
2. Seminar and workshop for career guidance
Successful professional career women gave lectures to introduce occupations of participating professional. They also held discussion meeting between professionals and participants in groups according to their interest.
3. Building Mentoring Relationship:
BPW Korea was selected at the Joint Project Contest and earned financial support from the Ministry of Gender Equity to open Career Development and Supporting Center. The aim was to support mentoring relationship development and network between senior and new professional women. BPW Korea attract participants via lectures and mass media. BPW Korea also started to do research and survey to build women database.

Results:

Seminar for young women:
Provided 150 young women with the information about new kind of jobs, different workplaces, the capabities to create new job, and how to find their own job aptitude.
Seminar and workshop for career guidance:
Help 350 women directlyd. Indirectly it may help up to 1,500 more as 1,500 copies of career guidance booklets were distributed around country.
Building Mentoring Relationship:
Mentoring and networking will establish women's identities and expedite the career development which goes with the flow of the times by inspiring them to develop and advance their potentials. After recognizing the women's favorite jobs and individual characteristics, companies will make up the circumstances which can offer the formal mentoring as well as the rewarding work.

Number of Women being Help:

Seminar for young women:
150 career women and college students from Seoul and Kyunggi.
Seminar and workshop for career guidance:
350 college women and staffs of job placement in college participated. Indirectly it may help up to 1,500 more people as 1,500 copies of career guidance booklets were distributed around country.
Building mentoring relationships: 27 women

Project : Lecture Series on New Jobs for the 21st Century

Description:

1.
A research to identify future-oriented ultramodertn jobs:
Jobs identified were
64 kinds in Information Communication,
30 kinds in Neo-Service Industry, and
34 kinds in Knowledge-based Industry.
2.
Lecture titled "21st Century, the Age of Creating New Career - Find Ultramodern Jobs" were given by successful professionals in each field.. The lectures covered the work in each field and suggestions on how to get such jobs. Five of the lectures were given in universities and one lecture at high school Participants in the lecture can undergo the vocational aptitude test and find what kind of jobs will fit themselves from the results.
3.
Seoul City Government’s women's development assistance fund was US$14,615 and BPW own expense was US$6,154.

Results:

Inform 1,180 female students from Yonsei University, Seoul Women’s University, Hanyang University, Duksung University, Hanyang Women’s University, Ewha Girls' High School.
More universities, such as In-ha University, expressed interest in such lecture.
Lecturers became BPW Southern Seoul Club members.
Southern Seoul Club helps activate Course guidance for girls in other local clubs.

Number of Women being Help: 1,180 female students at colleges and universities, high school girls.

Project: Career Guidance for Women

Description:

This project used researched data on modern jobs from BPW Korea and Southern Seoul Club. BPW clubs arrange professionals in every fields to give Career Guidance lectures. The lectures intend to help students choose occupations which are suitable to their aptitude.

Between 1999 – 2002, 16 lectures were given at high school / middle schools, and 4 lectures were given at universities / college.

Impact:

Hangsung 350 students
Daegu-SaeDaegu 1,850 students
Cheongju 1,355 students
Pohang 1,200 students
JeJu 2,070 students
TOTAL = 6,825

Results:

Number of Women being Help: Did not indicate that out of 6,825 students who participated are women or girls.
