Madame Lu Shiou-Lien, the first woman Vice President
of Taiwan R.O.C. welcomed BPW International President
at a reception to inaugurate 3 new Business and
Professional Women Clubs in Taiwan on Wednesday
31 October 2007. This reception was held at Taipei
Binguan, the official house which only President,
Vice presidents and Minister of Foreign Affairs
of Taiwan can use to hold social functions.
About 80 business and professional
women attended this inauguration. Many VIP guests
at this inauguration included Minister of Overseas
Compatriot Affairs Commission Republic of China,
Dr. Fu-Mei. Chang; Minister of State Mei-Yueh
Ho; Deputy Secretary General of National Security
Council, Dr. Jaw–Ling Joanne Chang, Deputy
Secretary General Cheer-Jean Lee of Democratic
Pacific Union and President of BPW Taipei Sue
Lu.
Over 30 years ago, Vice President
Lu was the founder of the first Business and Women
club of Taipei (BPW Taipei). She is again founded
3 new clubs. Together these four clubs plan to
apply for affiliation with BPW International as
a National Federation.
