BPW International president Chonchanok Viravan
gave a talk on “How to Advance Women Economic
Empowerment” at The International Conference
on the Interdisciplinary Field of Gender Study,
NTHU International Convention Center, Taipei,
Taiwan on 31 October 2007. This event was organized
by the Foundation of Women Rights and Development.
Her talk addressed how capacity
building is necessary, but not sufficient, to
empower women economically. Several obstacles
are blocking capable women from advancing toward
her full potentials include women International
Migration and Ageing population (later during
of questions and answers, she also addressed violence
against women as another important obstacle).
Thus opportunity building approaches are also
required. This talk was well received by both
the local and Intimation audiences.
