Excellent Country Effort Trophy

BPW Donetsk, Ukraine

Excellent Country Effort trophy is award to the country that helps the most number of women to help themselves in the way that has high impact. During 1999 – April 2002, BPW Donetsk helped 9,604 women by providing them consultation and training for unemployed women to enable them to find jobs or form their own businesses through "Helping women in crisis situations through their self-development" project. Ludmila Gorova is the President of BPW Donetsk, Ukraine and the head of the project. The project also involved 6 Young BPW.

Excellent Project Trophies

"PHAMBILI – Helping Domestics Violence Victims"

Excellent Project trophy is awarded to a BPW club that conducted the most innovative and has the highest impact in helping women to help themselves. In this regard, PHAMBILI helped women who were victims of rapes or domestic violence to recover from the trauma physically, economically, and legally. The number of women being help per month during 1999 – April 2002 were in average 35 rape victims per month, 100 domestic violence victims per month, and give refuge to 30 women and children per month. The success rate in rehabilitate them into the society is 70%. Of this, most of them find jobs within the community. Imelda Egan is the head of the project. President of BPW Outeniqua is Ren Mouton.

Outstanding BPW Medals

Outstanding BPW medals are awarded to BPW Clubs that help at least 100 women to help themselves.

BPW Nam-Seoul, BPW Cheongju, BPW Gwangju, BPW Hanseong, BPW Daegu, BPW Sae-Daegu, BPW Pohang, BPW Jeju, BPW Sae-Seoul, BPW Jeonju, BPW Machang
Helped 8,532 women through projects related to "Career Guidance for Women".

Mongolia:
BPW Ulaanbaatar
Helped 6,000 women through "Choices and Opportunities Oriented (COOS)" project.

New Zealand:
BPW New Zealand
Helped 1,200 women through "Sexual Harassment in the Work Place" project.
Involved 2 young BPW.

Canada:
BPW Canada
Helped 450 women through "Career Skills Achievement" program.
Led by young BPW.

   
BPW Regina
Helped 400 women through "Career Unlimited 2001" project.
Led by young BPW.

Thailand:
BPW Chiang-Mai
Helped 100 women through training on "Toys for Education" and "Internet and E-Commerce".

   
BPW Kallasin
Helped 120 women through skill training on blanket weaving, marketing training, and help find market for the blankets made by local women in the communities.

Cyprus:
BPW Cyprus
Helped 168 women to get the loan for starting or expanding their businesses through "Creation of the Women’s Cooperative Bank 'Initiative' Cyprus Ltd."
Involved 36 young BPW.

Pakistan:
BPW Lahore
Helped over 150 women through "Job Placement Center for Women" and "Teaching Income Generating Skill" projects.

Nepal:
Young BPW Nepal
Helped 143 women through various communities’ activities such as pickle training, workshop on individual and organizational development, mentoring, help identify employment opportunities, offer shelter home, etc.
Led by young BPW and involved 38 young BPW.

Helped over 100 women through 5 seminars regarding import/export, personal development, knowledge enhancement, sale training, and internet and small businesses.

Outstanding Young BPW Leaders

Each candidate must be the head of a project submitted for this competition and aged 35 or younger during 1999 – April 2002. The winners are selected based on their overall leadership abilities and experiences, not limited to the project they led. The top 3 winners are:

First Place: Christine Heinze
Young BPW representative for Europe, 1999 - 2002.
German Coordinator for EU Project "Mobilising Young Women for Equality"
Head of "Mentoring" project for BPW Germany, 1997 – 2000.
Second Place: Darla D.W. Campbell
International chair for young BPW, 1999 – 2002,
First Vice President elected for BPW Canada, 2002 – 2004,
Head of "Career Skills Achievement" program for BPW Canada.
Third Place: Dr. Shannon MacNeill
Past President of BPW Regina, Canada, 2000 – 2002,
Winner of YWCA"Women of Distinction Award" in the category of Health and Wellness for her volunteer activities,
Head of "Career Unlimited 2001" project for BPW Regina, Canada
