Introduction
Young BPW – BKK provide various
vocational and educational training to
less fortunate women in Central Women
Correctional Institutes since 2004 –
present. The idea is to give these women
second chances to be a good citizen, have
new skills to earn their living, and when
they finished their terms, they will not
go back to sell drugs and become burden
to the society again.
Activities
1. Training
So far we have already trained 808 women
prisoners and trained over 50 government
officials at the Women Correctional Institutes.
The training courses are, for example,
making artificial flowers from fish scales
and from clay, cooking classes, making
soft cookies, learn fruit & vegetable
carving, marketing, foot spa massage,
make-up classes to improve personality,
making basic embroidery necklace, making
souvenir from handkerchief, etc.
17 April 2004
trained 80 women prisoners in Thonburi
Women Correctional Institutes.
21 August 2004

in Thonburi Women Correctional Institutes.
23 November 2004

to both Thonburi and Central Women Correctional
Institutes. Donor are from Standard
Chartered Bank, Thailand.
26 March 2005

in Central Women Correctional Institutes.
12 November 2006

and 36 government staffs in Central
Women Correctional Institutes.
H1 2008
Plan to train over 300 women
prisoners in Central Women Correctional
Institutes.
With this knowledge, these prisoners
managed to earn extra income while still
in prison. So when they finished their
terms in prison, this money will be seed
funding for them to start their own small
businesses.
BPW provides certificates for all who
passed the training too. Aside from training
we also donate necessity goods to them
too, i.e. sanitary napkins, toothpaste,
toothbrush, bra, panties, etc. We also
donate over 10,000 books since the starting
of the project, and 12 second handed computers
to the women correctional institutes so
far. All donation are worth approximately
USD 25,000.-
