President Chonchanok Viravan was one of the three
recipients of Outstanding Alumni Award from Computer
Science Department, Purdue University. The awards
were present on 7 September 2007 at Purdue University,
West Lafayette, Indiana, United States of America.
The other two winners were Eric Meyer, founder
of Netflix and President of Zurock and Anne Schowe,
former Vice President of Sun Micro System.
President
Chonchanok received her Ph.D. from Computer Science
Department in 1994. Her thesis topic was “Enhancing
Debugging Technology”. Her advisor was Dr.
Eugene Spafford, Director of Center for Education
and Research in Information Assurance Security
(CERIAS). Purdue University is the first University
in the world to establish Computer Science Department.
Dean
of College of Science, Jeffrey Vitter, also hosted
a luncheon to congratulate Dr. Chonchanok and
other recipients of Outstanding Alumni Awards
in College of Science on the same day at Dick
and Sandy Alumni Center, Purdue University. Earlier
in the day, all three outstanding alumni award
winners met with professors and students at a
Welcome Reception hosted by Head of Computer Science
Department, Dr. Aditya Mathur.
