Summit President: Irene Natividad

Informally, called the "Davos for Women" by past participants, the Summit has developed a reputation as an exciting, fact-filled, hands-on gathering of high caliber participants. Now in its 18th year, the Global Summit of Women celebrates women’s leadership worldwide by bringing together women business, professional, and governmental leaders from around the world for three days of stimulating sessions led by opinion leaders and influencers who happen to be women.

The 2008 Global Summit of Women explores two of the major forces that will impact the 21st century global marketplace – Women and the Asia-Pacific economies. What women can do to access those markets and what we can learn from the women business leaders from the region will form the frame of this global gathering.

What the 2008 Summit Offers :

  • Pre-Summit Roundtable for WWWWoWmen Government Ministers to dialogue with corporate leaders on best practices in public/private sector partnerships for advancing women’s economic growth;
  • Plenary sessions which cover business trends regionally and globally;
  • Practical strategies for business growth – personal and entrepreneurial - developed in different parts of the world;
  • Skills building sessions in four tracks: Leadership Development, Entrepreneurial, Microenterprise Development, and Issues;
  • Inspirational role models from every continent among over 80 presenters;
  • Ample networking opportunities at breakfasts, lunches, receptions, and throughout the event.

2008 Summit Features :

  • A window into the dynamic Asia-Pacific economies now leading the 21st century global marketplace
  • Insight into the women driving business growth in this region as consumers and business leaders
  • Featured ‘best practices’ in partnerships between business and government to advance women and to promote ‘green’ initiatives
  • Information on doing business with the latest Asian ‘tiger’ – Vietnam
  • And numerous sessions to help ‘grow’ your leadership skills, your business, your network.

"The Global Summit of Women was truly amazing! Women leaders from business, politics, and society exchanging views, connecting, and working toward a better world"
— Mirella Visser, President, European Women’s Professional Network

2008 Summit Host Country: Vietnam

Vietnam, the new Asian "tiger" economy, is the proud Host of the 2008 Global Summit of Women. Posting an annual growth rate of 8%, Vietnam is an ideal venue for a global gathering of women business and government leaders to revisit the dynamic Asia-Pacific region, now viewed by economists as the “new center of gravity in the world’s economy” led by China and India. With almost a third of its largest companies headed by women, along with a vibrant community of women entrepreneurs, Vietnam is a leading example of women’s progress in the marketplace.

The site of the 2008 Summit – Hanoi – is home to the country’s government as well as to a growing group of companies involved in foreign trade. Tourism, finance, and banking are among the top industries in this city. Within the government, women occupy influential positions including the Vice Presidency and powerful cabinet and sub-cabinet-level posts.

The 2008 Global Summit of Women offers delegates the opportunity to experience the business and market opportunities of this rising economic "tiger", while offering an opportunity to meet and connect with its outstanding women.
