Greetings from Finland, BPW Club Oulu!

BPW Club Oulu  was established on February 28, 1991 and has just celebrated 20 years of the Oulu Art Museum.

Many the founding members are no longer involved, however, Maija-Liisa Saarela brought old photos and gave a short history of the Association's activities and events.
The goal is to meet each alternative month, when the Club visits companies, to participate in events, such as attending the theatre and, of course to celebrate Christmas with a party.
Oulu is well-known for Nokia and the employment brought about by sub-contracting companies. Nokia-Oulu has become a well-known as a technology and IT city.

BPW Club Tampere is one of the oldest clubs in Finland. It was established on 17.11.1946. We have 40 members.

BPW Club Espoo was founded in 19.05.1970, but its registration in BPW Finland was in 16.10.1971. This year we celebrates its 40th anniversary.

Greetings from BPW club Mikkeli!

Our  club official founding date was 9th of February 1947. The meeting was at-tended by 33 business and professional women.



Currently we have about 130 active members of the business and professional women.
Our home, the city of Mikkeli  is situated 200 km from Helsinki  in a beautiful area surrounded by lakes. Especially during the summer the area is very popular holiday destination.

BPW Club Joensuu was founded on the 3rd September 1948, so we have passed the magic 60 years.  At the moment we have 29 members. 

Greetings from Finland, BPW Club Hämeenlinna!

The constitutive meeting of BPW Club Hämeenlinna was held March 13th 1968. The meeting was chaired by the founder and former chairwoman of BPW Finland, Master of Arts Anni Voipio. The meeting was attended by 30 women of different professions, all interested in the Club. Ella Lotila, who begun the constitutive process, was chosen as the chairwoman. She was then the executive vice president of Etelä-Hämeen Sähkö Oy (Southern Häme Electronics Company). She still, at the age of 90, attends the member evenings!

BPW Club Helsinki is one of the oldest clubs in the world, older than the BPW Finland. BPW Helsinki is 80 years old. The Club was grounded in 17 April 1931. Anni Voipio (master of science, journalist, writer) and Cecilia Hasselström (master of science, journalist) were the ladies to ground the club. From the beginning Finnish BPW ladies had a near contact to American BPW women. In the summer 1930 Lena Madesin Phillips visited Finland and she activated Finnish women to participate later in the summer 1930 the IFBPW Congress in Geneve.

Greetings from Finland BPW Club Iitti !

The Iitti BPW Club was founded by mrs Irja Virta, owner of a bookstore, and a group of other business and professional women on 4. of November 1952. The first president of the club was teatcher of domestic economics mrs Maija Koivusaari.

Greetings from Finland, BPW Club Kuopio

BPW Kuopio-Finland was founded in 1948 and was one of the first clubs in Finland. Our first president was lecturer Kielo Ovaskainen.  Presently, we have some 25 members and we meet each month visiting companies or attending other relevant happenings. We are an active club. National Autumn meetings were held in Kuopio in 1981 and 1993 and the last 2010 National Spring meeting was held here. During the 1977 International Congress at the Midsummer day/night in Kuopio, 37 women attended from worldwide clubs.

BPW Club Turku is one of the oldest clubs in Finland. It was established on 28.04.1947 by 59 women, a year after the creation of BPW-Finland. There have been more than 200 members in the club of Turku during the 1950s. Today there are approximately 40 members.
