Events Helsinki Congress 2011 BPW Club Helsinki

Greetings from Finland, BPW Club Helsinki !

BPW Club Helsinki is one of the oldest clubs in the world, older than the BPW Finland. BPW Helsinki is 80 years old. The Club was grounded in 17 April 1931. Anni Voipio (master of science, journalist, writer) and Cecilia Hasselström (master of science, journalist) were the ladies to ground the club. From the beginning Finnish BPW ladies had a near contact to American BPW women. In the summer 1930 Lena Madesin Phillips visited Finland and she activated Finnish women to participate later in the summer 1930 the IFBPW Congress in Geneve.

Nowadays, BPW Finland Helsinki is one of the most active clubs to organize the congress 2011. Many members of the club Helsinki is in the HPC  and its teams. The club organize different events for its members almost every month. For instance in October we´ll have a fashion show in Marimekko. The club events can be such as visiting theatre, spa, museum. We make tours especially in spring times. And the Helsinki club has a near co working with other clubs in the district of the capital, especially with the BPW Espoo and the BPW Vantaa.

Helsinki, the capital of Finland has over half a million inhabitants. It is the seaside city with the famous Empire centre. Also a new architecture is well known all over the world. I think globally Helsinki is regarded as a small and peaceful town. In summertimes Helsinki is as its best because of the sun and the sea.
