The author of the autobiography Black and Blue Sari, Dhillon uses her own harrowing story of abuse and torment as a medium to reach out to people of all ages and backgrounds to motivate, empower and challenge.

Dhillon will be in Abbotsford on Feb. 8, to discuss domestic violence at the next Business and Professional Women's lunch in Abbotsford at the Cascade Community Church.

Canada: 'Voice of the South Asian Community' South Asian Focus


BPW MEETING: Mayor Susan Fennell addresses the next BPW meeting, at the Brampton Irish Club. The topic of discussion is ‘Women in Politics’. Fennell is currently serving her fourth term as mayor. In addition to her political career, she was the founder and first commissioner of the National Women’s Hockey League, which is now the world’s premier women’s hockey league. Fennell  is also an honorary member of BPW Brampton. The Mississauga chapter of the Business and Professional Women's Club (BPW) will hold its first official monthly meeting on Feb. 27 at La Scala Ristorante on Matheson Blvd. Mayor Hazel McCallion will be their first special guest speaker. She'll discuss "Women in Politics."

Consequently, it is urging both professional and business women in the region to support local events, local enterprise and contribute to the growth of the city and the event.

For 2012, BPW Galway has put together a programme of events for 2012 which will showcase a variety of information and social events suiting all interests. The formal launch of the programme will take place on Monday January 30 in The Ardilaun Hotel when Let’s Do It Global will showcase what the arrival of the Volvo Ocean Race fleet for its ultimate finale will mean for Galway.

Zambia: Take Lead in Poverty Fight, Women Challenged

The International Business and Professional Women (BPW) Zambia chapter has challenged local business women to take a leading role in the fight against poverty. BPW Zambian chapter president Sylvia Mwansa said the women should play the leading role in all the sectors of the economy if the country was to fight poverty.
Ms Mwansa said in an interview in Lusaka that women could even do better if they took a positive approach torwards achieving their targets.
"Women should take a leading role in both business and professional ventures for the country to fully develop," she said.

Australian High Commissioner Hosts Reception
