BPW International

RIO +20 Conference on Sustainable Development will be held on 4-6 June 2012 on the 20^th Anniversary of the  Conference on Sustainable Development in Rio De Janeiro in 1992 and the 10^th Anniversary of the Johannesburg Conferences in 2002.

This Conference will focus on 2 themes:

• Green economy in the context of sustainable development and poverty eradication
• The institutional framework for sustainable development

Registration for the main conference is not yet open but there are many ways for affiliates to join in the preparatory processes.

Regional Preparatory Meetings are being held in all 5 regions:

October 19-20, Korea: Asia Pacific Region

October 16-17, Egypt: Arab Region

October 20-25, Ethiopia: Africa Region

December 1-2, Switzerland; European Region

In addition many countries are holding their own Meetings in order to consult with NGOs and affiliates should participate in these as well is inputting into the developing BPW Regional and International activity and statements.

The 3^rd Preparatory Committee Meeting for Rio+20 will be held on 28-30 May in Rio de Janeiro just before the main Conference.
