Latest News BPW News A Brief Report on APRC 2010 Singapore- Asia Pacific Regional Conference, 15-18 October 2010, Singapore

The APRC 2010 Singapore- Asia Pacific Regional Conference, 15-18 October 2010, held in Singapore was a great success and as the Regional Coordinator and the Convenor of the Conference, I thank all the participants who came to contribute and enjoy the conference and all the supporters who couldn’t come but sent their reports and wishes.

More than 100 members abroad and 40 members from Singapore participated in the Regional Conference and 11 country Federations and Associate Clubs in the Asia Pacific sent delegations, such as Australia, Bangladesh, Cambodia, Japan, Korea, Nepal, New Zealand, Pakistan, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand.
The Conference was vastly enhanced by the participation of the International Executives, President Liz Benham,1st Vice-President Gabriella Canonica, 2nd Vice-President Freda Miriklis, Executive Secretary Jean Murray, and Past Presidents Pat Harrison, Antoinette Ruegg, Chonchanok Viravan Immediate Past President.

The Hosting Committee of BPW Singapore headed by President Ng Hong and Triena Ong, Evelyn Chang, Vivien Cham together with Presidents of three chapters, undertook a tremendous job to prepare the Regional Conference enriched with programs and interesting field visits. I congratulate them on behalf of all the participants. I also thank the largest groups of Taiwan, Thailand and Korea for their contribution to the joyful cultural programs. The first Presidents Meeting made a step forward to strengthen the network of the vast Asia Pacific Region by important decision making to support the Regional Coordinating work: 1 euro dues per member and supportive regional committee of 5 members.
My last thanks go to the voluntary lecture on ‘Emotional Intelligence’ of Past President Antoinette Ruegg who came all the way from Switzerland to participate in the Conference and the speakers of the Plenary and Workshops including moderators.
I also thank the help of International President Liz Benham to deliver the Certificates of Appreciation given to the Hosting Committee members who worked behind the scene for several months.

The Presidents and senior members who helped to draft the resolutions and recommendations are also to be acknowledged.
Once again, we felt BPW Power to make a difference and together we made a difference. This latter part is particularly applying to the role of leaders in Singapore BPW members and I am happy to acknowledge here one more outcome of the Conference, which is perhaps the most solid outcome of the Conference.
