Latest News BPW News BPW of Port-au-Prince, Haiti: 42nd Anniversary

On October 17, 2010 BPW of Port-au-Prince celebrated its 42nd anniversary in the presence of an impressive number of guests and club members that are still living in Haiti.



After a warm welcome by Vice-President Marie Andrée Etienne, the audience recited the prayer of the International Club and sang the national anthem. Then President Marie Carmel Lafontant   assessed the activities of the club since its inception in 1968 until today.
Then one of the psychologists from the Trauma Center presented a progress report on the psycho-social support program of the Club for young girls who were affected by   the   January 12th earthquake.

Treasurer Nativita Jean-Louis spoke and presented well documented report on the participation of the Club of Port-au-Prince in the 5th Regional Conference held in Las Vegas. She thanked the International Federation on behalf of the victims for helping us achieve our goals.

BPW will follow up with the 2nd part of the program which includes scholarships to thirty girls living in the camps.

BPW honored eight distinguished professional women of Haiti:
Ms. Hilda Canez AUGUSTE, businesswoman, manager.
Mrs Edite Henry, Community Development Officer.
Madam Ti Mase, restaurant owner.
Ms. Christiana ALVA Pastor, an informal businesswoman. Marie Louise Baker, industrialist.
Ms. Fernande Jean-Pierre, a founding member of the Club.
Madame Antoine Duclerc, Farmer.
Madame Micheline L. Denis, pianist.

Then everybody was hungry enough to have a dinner party with a big birthday cake.
