Dear BPW,

Last week Finance Director Geva Murano and I returned from New York City and Long Island where we had a series of extensive meetings with Immediate Past President Liz and Immediate Past Finance Director, Sujey Albert. We are extremely grateful for the on going support and team work which is proving to be invaluable as we begin this term.

We also got to meet members from EPW New York at the EPW Summer Social which this year was postponed by two days due to the torrential rains.  We are pleased to learn this morning that Hurricane Irene was downgraded to a tropical storm overnight after sparing New York City the worst of its fury and that our members are safe and well.  

New York is the home of our Immediate Past President and Liz and our members in New York have all been in our thoughts and prayers over these past few days.

Since we launched the Women’s Empowerment Principles (WEPs) Toolkit, the level of motivation by members has been great and I am thrilled to see so many proposals for up coming BPW WEPs events and consultations proposed around the world. The enthusiasm for the WEPs from the Young BPW’s is exciting and they have some great plans forthcoming!

In this e-news, Young BPW Representative Anastasia Safarian tells us about some of the new communication channels she and her team have put in place and 2nd Vice President Jill Worobec shares with us timely advice about how to get the most of your on-line membership privileges.

Read about the WEPs training course offered to three of our clubs in Benin. It is focused on WEPs Principle Number 4 - Promote education, training and professional development for women. Regional Coordinator for Africa, Adenike Adeyanju-Osadolor, shares their program with us.
