by Regional Coordinator of BPW North America & Non Spanish Speaker Countries of the Caribbean

Dear Members,

Help me welcome on board, our two sub-coordinators, Doris and Linda, and our member on the International Mentoring Taskforce, Maureen.

You may have already heard from them, I encourage you to give them your full corporation. They will need your assistance to serve you better.

Since we last met, at our Regional Conference in Jamaica, I have had the pleasure of traveling to our clubs in Chicago, El Paso, New York and the " Open Hearing" on the Organization Review and Reform in Valencia, Spain. It was a joy to meet fellow BPW members and to share our experiences.

It is my intention to visit Cayman Brac, Barbados, St. Kitts and two or three clubs in Canada before I demit office in October, 2008.

Please be reminded that our Congress is set for October 2008, in Mexico City, arrangements are in place and we will be advising you of the costs and accommodations in a short time.

I wish you and your family a Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays and all the Best for 2008.

Greetings to all,

This is my first communication since our regional conference in Jamaica last February where I was appointed as sub-regional coordinator for the Caribbean Islands.

I am looking forward to meeting with the representatives of all the clubs of our region at the XXVI International Congress in Mexico City from October 24th-28th 2008.

I hope that most of you are able to access the information on the website as this is the most efficient way of distributing information to our members. Please make it a habit to visit the website regularly.

To achieve our goal we need the input and support from all the clubs of the region. Ultimately what we need in the years to come or years ahead, is for our capacity to grow, our clubs to become stronger and to continue to provide leadership while we are being put to the test in this changing world.

I have no doubt that if we equipped ourselves with the information and continue to train and educate ourselves we will be equipped with the knowledge and discipline to make a difference.

I will also like to thank you for the opportunity to be the contact person in the Caribbean region. keeping the communication going.

Time passes fast and as I write this message we will soon be preparing for the festive season world wide, it gives me great pleasure to send you greetings and best wishes for a healthy and prosperous 2008.

Greetings to all,

In my position as one of the sub-regional coordinators, I am responsible for communication with the clubs in North America and Bermuda (Canada, the US and Bermuda). I have sent out messages to all clubs with response from only one, New York. It is imperative that we have the contact information so that we can communicate regularly with your clubs and let you know what is happening in the Region.

We would like to update the web information for the region and have representation from all clubs. This is a wonderful way to exchange ideas and make a connection with other BPW members. Currently the regional site has very limited information about the exciting things that clubs are doing. Let’s change that and share our successes with other members.

One of my roles as a Vice President in Canada is Programs and Projects, and supporting the International committee. I have taken a great interest in the issue of Human Trafficking, having prepare two resolutions (one in 2000 and one in 2006), I have a committee across Canada with one member in New York, but I would like to expand this committee. What I would like to accomplish with the committee is to increase the awareness of all citizens to this booming criminal activity in all countries that is destroying the lives of thousands of women and children.

If you can make one more person aware of this terrible abuse of humanity, it would be worthwhile.

I urge all clubs to encourage your members to attend the next Congress in Mexico City from October 24 to 28, 2008.

Doris E. Hall,
Sub-Regional Coordinator for NANSSC
