Individual Development Program (IDP) is
a training program that has been developed
and implemented very successfully by BPW
USA. IDP trainers are also located in Australia,
Singapore, Korea and other countries in
the world.
The program shows women
how to reach their personal and professional
goals, their goals within organizations
and those in the public domain.
The following content
is imparted in a two day-seminar:
Module 1:
History and
Aims and Goals of BPW
Historical development
and current activities of BPW in view of
the possibilities for members, goals, mission,
vision and legal basics.
Module 2:
Behaviors and
Communication Styles
Getting to know the
behavioral and communication styles of colleagues
and employees and using them in a highly
skilled and successful way.
The participants learn
to identify the stereotypes and the influence
they have on the behavior. They gain an
overview of the DISC-model for human behavior
that helps to recognize and utilize the
differences in communication in a more useful
way.
(DISC stands for Dominance,
Influence, Steadiness and Conscientiousness).
Module 3:
Finding the
right person for the right task
This module builds
upon the information gained in Module 2.
It helps to identify the various types through
listening skills and conveys the fundamentals
that help to understand the feelings and
assumptions of other people. The importance
of body language, outer appearance and the
way of dressing is also addressed.
Module 4:
Making a presentation
The participants are
taught the basics of presentations and the
[many] aspects thereof, learn how to capture
the audience, overcome the fear of giving
a speech or making a presentation and prepare
convincing presentations.
Module 5:
Public speaking
The participants learn
to speak in public, are taught the secrets
of how to make their speeches more effective,
give constructive feedback and how to make
impromptu speeches.
Module 6:
Networking
This Module teaches
the participants the art of networking with
individuals or groups and outlines the elements
of successful networking and the various
networking-circles.
Module 7:
Interviews
Interviews, advice
and techniques imparted, to enable even
more successful in interviews.
The participants employ
the DISC-model, check their own strengths,
talents and skills. They prepare interviews,
practice and assess them.
Module 8:
Negotiation
skills in business settings and for other
opportunities
The participants learn
techniques for successful negotiations and
how to deal with difficult people. The negotiation
skills are practiced in role plays.
Module 9:
The development
of leadership qualities help the participants
to get to the top
They discover the key
factors of successful leadership, learn
what others expect of them as a leader and
use what they have learnt about behavioral
styles with a view to leadership.
Module 10:
Holding meetings
following parliamentary rules
The parliamentary approach
can improve any meeting and any committee.
The participants learn the art of chairing
a meeting efficiently as chairwoman, how
to table motions or changes and are taught
the comprehensive fundamentals of the parliamentary
approach and terminology.
Module 11:
Business Etiquette
This Module conveys
the basics of business etiquette in the
use of electronic equipment: such as email,
telephone, and the mobile phone, and from
relating to clients and customers at business
lunches or dinners.
Module 12:
Utilize your
civic rights
The participants learn
how to approach political decision makers,
how to go about lobbying for the purpose
of legislation, how to organize basic voting,
how to start a civic initiative and the
importance of elections.
Module 13:
Develop your
goals
What is important to
you, what values do you have and what do
you believe in? The participants learn to
develop their personal goals, define their
values and visions and are taught an approach
for short and long-term goals.
Module 14:
Public relations
for your business and your organization
The participants get
to know the media processes, how to build
a relationship with the media, how to draw
up notifications and press releases.
Each Module builds
on the information and elements of the previous
Module. Before they prepare presentations,
the participants learn how communication
gets affected by the different behavioral
styles. They first learn all about networking,
then interview skills, followed by negotiation
skills.
The contents are conveyed
through practical exercises that, among
others, include prepared 5-minute presentations,
impromptu speeches or interviews in role
plays.
