Introduction
The first mentoring
program for BPW Geelong was established
in 1991. The initial aim of the mentoring
program was to share experiences, skills
and ideas with other women in the community;
for women to help each other and to create
a greater awareness of BPW in the Geelong
business community. A “Time for Action”
brochure was produced which listed the skills
of members and was distributed to existing,
new and potential members and also placed
in local businesses.
Team members included
Ninette Trifiletti, Immediate Past President
Geelong, and Chair, BPWI Mentoring Taskforce,
Olive Stonyer, Marilyn Bickerdike, BPW Geelong
President; Micky Hayward; BPW Geelong Inaugural
President; and Pat Miles, past BPW Victoria
President.

you should join BPW
- Speak up and Speak
out - making BPW visible
The
idea is to conduct educational/development
programs – a minimum of two programs
per year and involve Club members in terms
of the specific content and presentation.
In order to involve
new members, they are asked to select a
mentor within BPW to be a “support
person” for the first three months
after joining BPW in Geelong.

Mentoring
Projects
BPW Geelong has been
successful in obtaining sponsorship and
community grants that have enabled members
to develop workshops and to support the
East Timor Mentoring Project and the Shell
Leadership Mentoring Project. Sponsors have
included the City of Greater Geelong, Alcoa,
Warne Marketing, Bendigo Bank, Geelong ACC,
Australian Mentoring Centre and Shell Leadership
and Mentoring Scholarships.
BPW Geelong members
have also participated in the Geelong Business
Expo – members promoting their businesses
under the banner of BPW.
Young BPW women can
participate in the Young Entrepreneurs Breakfast
which is another activity to promote mentoring.
