Some of the skills training programs that BPW Nepal has implemented and their milestones include:

  • Training on Capacity Building under the project ‘Capacity-Building on Income Creating Measures for Women’ was conducted from January 2006 to February 2007 to women displaced by conflict.. The training was funded by Eco Himal, an Austrian Development Corporation. It was designed to motivate participants, guide them in the selection of appropriate opportunities and make them economically independent. Trainees were coached on self esteem, gender, leadership, community development, micro credit and entrepreneurship development followed by practical training on bakery and sewing skills.
  • BPW Nepal has undertaken poverty reduction through socio-economic activities since 2002 supported by the Leager Foundation, Canada. This project has been implemented in villages of three different districts of Kathmandu, Patan and Bhaktapur. A package of activities has been designed to uplift the socio-economic conditions of the target group.
  • Training the Trainer (TOT) on functional literacy, agriculture and small enterprise and social development and several capacity building, leadership, confidence development and gender awareness programs under the same project.
  • A micro-credit program has been implemented by BPW Kathmandu and BPW Patan chapters, which is running smoothly. Many village women have benefited from the program. They are able to conduct small business by taking out loans and also earning from running their business.
  • Women cooperatives have been operating and of course, focusing on rural and urban women.
