Proposed amendment will
take effect immediately after XXVI BPW International Congress.
RATIONALE
In the last triennium (2002-2005) immediate
past international president Antoinette Ruegg has defined
and publicized the aim of BPW as “To develop professional
potentials for women at all levels.” During this triennium
2005-2008, BPW International has been publicizing the aim
of BPW as "To develop professional and leadership potential
for women at all levels" and the AMBITION as "Equal
participation of women and men in power and decision making
roles", which is in accordance to one of 12 critical
areas of concerns in Beijing Platform for Action. Both phrases
are in support of Millennium Development Goal 3 “Promote
Gender Equality and Empower Women”. This has been very
well received by BPW members world wide. So this amendment
is proposed to add both phrases in the AIM of the organization
in the constitution.
