Statement
My past activities with BPW
Since I joined BPW–Bangkok in 1996,
I was involved in many activities.
- Organizing events – (1) Organized
the 2nd Young BPW International Meeting in Bangkok,
Thailand in 2002 as one of the three main coordinators
of the Young BPW Host Planning Committee. (2) Organized
APEC Forum on Digital Economy for Women 2006 Innovation
and Leadership with Asian Pacific Women’s
Information Network Center (APWINC) and UNESCAP at the
UN Convention Center in Bangkok, Thailand in 2006.
- Work with UN – Beside attending
UN meetings as permanent representatives to UNESCAP
since 2002, I also handle members’ accreditation
to UN-CSW and other UN meetings. This experience helped
me understand women issues better.
- Do research work - I was Dr. Chonchanok
Viravan’s research assistant for Beijing +10 Review
Project “Two Steps Forward & One Step Back”
in 2004.
- Conduct projects in Thailand –
- Organize skill training – My key
project as Young BPW – Bangkok Chairperson
is “Give women a second chance” Project.
The project provides various vocational and handcrafts
training to women inmates in Thailand. During 2004-2008,
the project already helped over 800 women. The popular
training is teaching how to make fish scale artificial
flowers. I also successfully persuaded club
presidents to give free booths to sell goods made
by women inmates at BPW functions, and promote fish
scale flowers in other countries.
- I also organize another free breast cancer
and cervical cancer check-up for 2,058 women
inmates in Central Women Correctional Institutes
in Thailand jointly with Women’s Doctor
Association.
- Fundraising – I helped raise fund
for Thai Red Cross Society over 11 years. Mainly I
helped pre-sale the raffle tickets, pick the raffle,
collect the prizes, and delivered the goods to the
buyers.
- I also successfully persuaded other organizations
to give funding support for "Give women a
second chance" project such as National
Outstanding Mother Association of Thailand –
Bangkok, Zonta Bangkok 1 & 5, Rotary Club,
and Lions Club.
-
Coordinate with BPW affiliate
as Director of BPW International President’s Office
2005-2008 I have coordinated with over 80 member
countries worldwide. This gives me the opportunity to
know many BPW affiliates, their presidents, and members,
and gain insight to their activities.
If I am elected as Project Chair,
my plan will be as follows:
- Project 5-O - Encourage BPW to do
more project jointly with other organizations in Project
5-O and encourage them to apply for Project 5-O funding.
- Promote Affiliates to participate in Award
Competition in order for BPW International
to get project information and give recognition for
BPW Affiliates/members.
- Promote and publicize BPW Award winning projects
through various channels i.e. BPW International website,
newsletter, and BPW Online.
- Help identify source of fund for BPW Projects.
- Work in collaboration with other International
Partners of BPW to offer benefits for members
i.e. promote e-Business training in Korea, and in other
countries.
