BPW Morocco’s Medays Forum

President of BPW Morocco Fatiha Otmane organized  Medays Forum, which was attended by H.E. President of Burkina Faso,  BPW International President Amany Asfour, BPW Bahrain President Shiekha Hind Bent Salman Al Khlifa, President of BPW Addis Ababa Hadia Gondji and BPW members from Sudan.

Ms. Elisabeth Wambui Ndung’u, a member of BPW Nakuru, Kenya was recognized as a heroine during 2018 Kenyan National Heroes Day (Mashujaa Day) for her work. She served the terminally ill cancer patients for over a decade. Her mission is to ease the suffering of cancer patients by constructing a new Nakuru Hospice.

The 10th African Union Private Sector Forum

African Union Commission Economic Affairs in collaboration with BPW Egypt and Egyptian Business Women Association organized the 10th African Union Private Sector Forum is organized by under the theme “Made in Africa towards realizing Africa's economic Transformation and achieving AU Agenda 2063” during 9-11 May 2018 in Cairo, Egypt.
President Dr Amany Asfour inaugurated the opening ceremony with H.E. Commissioner of Economic Affairs of African Union and H.E Dr. Hala El Saiid Minister of Planning follow up and Administrative reform.

The forum focused on empowering the private sector of Africa including women and youth and advocated for special incentives for private sector as Government procurement for SMEs including women and youth. It also included a session on STEM Education for Women and youth to transform Africa. Both topics are advocacy pillars of BPW International.

BPW Executives attending included President Amany Asfour, Vice President Catherine Bosshart and Africa regional coordinator Abla Mahdi. Several Presidents of BPW affiliates in Africa also attended, including presidents of BPW Edea, Cameroon; BPW Addis Ababa, BPW Ethiopia, BPW Rwanda, BPW Nigeria and BPW Dakar, Senegal.

BPW in Zimbabwe, a work in progress

President Amany Asfour had a meeting with Business and Professional Women in Harare, Zimbabwe at the Ministry of Women Affairs of Zimbabawe.  The aim was to start a new BPW Club in Zimbabawe.  The ladies were very keen to join BPW International global Network.

Activities with Young BPW in Uganda

Professor Maggie Kigozi, President of BPW Kampala, Uganda, met with young BPW in Uganda to discuss sustainable development. Entrepreneur Barbara Ofwono shared her experiences with young BPW Uganda on how she expands her school from 10 students in one room to 4,000 students on 3 campuses.

BPW at “Gender is my Agenda Campaign”, Addis Ababa

President Amany Asfour chaired a session on “Economic Empowerment of Women on the margins of African Union Summit” with Africa Regional Coordinator Abla Mahdi at the “Gender is my Agenda Campaign” Meeting (GIMAC) at the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA) in Addis Ababa.  GIMAC is network of Women movements in Africa where BPW Egypt, BPW Sudan, BPW Addis Ababa are members
