Smashing stereotypes: Challenging gender bias in and through education

On 8 March, and to mark International Women's Day, UNESCO, UNGEI and Transform Education, with the support of the OECD, are holding a webinar to discuss how gender stereotypes and bias affect learners’ well-being, educational and career pathways, and how this can be challenged in and through education.
Participants will have the chance to hear insights from and to interact with young people, education and gender policy-makers, researchers and practitioners from around the globe who are tackling gender stereotypes and bias in teaching and learning, and creating a better future for all.
Specific attention will be paid to efforts aimed at increasing girls’ participation in traditionally male-dominated domains of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) and in getting boys to take study paths related to teaching and caring.

Le 8 mars, à l'occasion de la Journée internationale des femmes, l'UNESCO, UNGEI et Transform Education, avec le soutien de l'OCDE, organisent un webinaire pour discuter de la manière dont les stéréotypes et les préjugés liés au genre affectent le bien-être des apprenants, leur parcours scolaire et professionnel, et comment les contrer dans et par l'éducation.
Les participants auront l'occasion d'entendre et d’interagir avec des jeunes, des responsables politiques en matière d’éducation et de genre, des chercheurs et des praticiens du monde entier qui brisent les stéréotypes et préjugés liés au genre dans l'enseignement et l'apprentissage, et qui créent un meilleur avenir pour tous.
Une attention particulière sera accordée aux efforts visant à accroître la participation des filles dans les domaines des sciences, des technologies, de l'ingénierie et des mathématiques (STIM), traditionnellement dominés par les hommes, et à inciter les garçons à s'orienter vers des études liées à l'enseignement et aux soins.
