As the world marks four years since the invasion of Ukraine, BPW International pauses to honor the extraordinary courage, resilience, and strength of our BPW sisters in Ukraine.
In a deeply heartfelt message, International President Diana Barragán expresses not only institutional support, but sisterhood — recognizing the immense burdens carried by Ukrainian women who continue to protect families, sustain communities, and uphold hope in the face of uncertainty.
In her words:
“Please know that you are not alone. Across all regions of BPW International, your perseverance is seen, your voices are heard, and your courage inspires us.”
The message pays tribute to the humanitarian work of BPW Chernihiv and its leadership, acknowledging the powerful example of women transforming adversity into action.
In times of crisis, solidarity is not just a statement — it is a commitment.
We warmly invite you to download and read the full message from the International President here:

From the first week of this invasion I have been watching the damage that a foreign power has shown to a neighbour. The ecological damage is at crisis point and we must remember this will scar the land for many years to come.
Ukrainians are resilient and have been strong in so many ways, but how much longer can this strength continue before it breaks?
Practical help is needed, inside and outside of the country. Retraining, attracting investment and being able to bring home Ukrainian refugees will help.
In the immediate term the BPW Van for Chernihiv humanitarian vehicle project continues for now. But, we must think of way to ensure we have enough resources to keep this success going.
Thank you for this support. But what will you do to help, today, tomorrow and into the future ?

Thank you to BPWI President Diana who speaks for all members of BPW - her words echo what we feel.
In London we are honoured to have a refugee from the Ukraine who found us. She keeps connected with our members and we are so glad we can give strength and joy to each other.
Two years ago I met another woman in St. John's NFLD. She also was so happy to be in Canada but missed her home country so much.
Truly a situation that one can never truly expect or plan for. The courage needed to keep going wherever the women of Ukraine are found. Thank you to each of you.

BPW Canada stands with BPW Ukraine, recognizing the devastation of the last four years that your country has been subjected to, we honour your resilience. Canada has close ties to Ukraine with thousands of Ukrainian descendants part of the Canadian fabric but also many who have come to seek refuge during this time of crisis. Long live Ukraine.
Mary McBrearty - BPW London Ontario Canada (Friday, 06 March 2026 13:24)
My thoughts, prayers, and deep admiration are with you. In my community, we have a refugee family from Ukraine—just a mother and her children, as their father stayed behind. Hearing their story, and seeing the strength they carry every day, has been both heartbreaking and inspiring.
I’ve also worked for a Canadian who came to this country from Ukraine after the Second World War, and I’ve heard firsthand about the hardships your nation has endured in the past. To know that you are facing such terror again is devastating.
Please stay strong. Know that we are thinking of you, supporting you, and standing with you.
