BPW International Haiti Earthquake Rescue Fund

August 14, 2021 an earthquake with a magnitude of 7.2 struck Haiti. Currently, more than 2,000 people are confirmed dead, and around 12,000 people have been injured. Many people have lost their shelter and are dependent on emergency aid.

The new catastrophe brings crisis-ridden Haiti into great distress once again. The disaster area is located in western Haiti. The areas around Les Cayes and Jérémie were hard hit. Major damage to homes and all infrastructure is reported. Tens of thousands of people have lost everything. Their homes have been destroyed and what little belongings they have are buried under the rubble. The heavy rains of the last few days further aggravate their situation.

BPW Club Port-au-Prince takes responsibility for ensuring that donations are used in emergency aid for the victims of the earthquake.

BPW International Lebanon Disaster Rescue Fund

August 4, 2020 marked a destructive and fearful tragedy in the Lebanese people’s lives. The explosion that happened made Lebanon’s situation even worse. Almost 200 were killed, 6000 were injured, 300,000 lost their homes, and more than 40 people were still missing. Sadly, this is not the end of the struggle as they have to survive through the cold nights of this winter.

BPW Lebanon proposes a project to provide sewing machines to women who lost their career due to the blast as well as give them fabric to make blankets. BPW Lebanon members would then give away these blankets to the homeless people. These women can later use their sewing machine to start a small business and earn a living. People victimized by the blast would also have free blankets to warm themselves with through the winter.

BPW affiliates are working within their own countries to help the people in their countries. BPW International COVID-19 Rescue Fund is set up to support BPW COVID-19 projects.

Once sufficient fund is raised, BPW affiliates can submit COVID-19 related project request to apply for funding support.
