BPW Women's Debate - Report

BPW Women's Debate Report

21-23 of January 2022

BPW International was asked to organise three parallel workshops on 21 January 2022 before a two-day debating event with students from international schools in China. The theme of the debate event was "Gender Equality and Women's and Children's Rights". BPW International proposed three topics: "Migration", which was chaired by NFBPWC Vice President Kathy Kelly, "Career Planning", which Standing Committee Chair Francesca Burack took on together with Lena Nicolaou, and "Effects of Covid-19 on Women and Girls", which was chaired by myself and Task Force Chair Dr Luisa Monini. 600 students registered, of which 170 were selected. A larger number would have been beyond the scope of one evening and two days. There were three very lively discussion rounds, which were carried by the great interest of the young people. All the students who spoke had an excellent command of English. It was a very positive experience for all of us and one that we will be very happy to repeat when the opportunity arises.
